1. Background & Establishment

Our Roots in Industry

Bigbiney Institute of Technology has its roots in practical industry training, dating back to 2017, when structured skills training began at Bigbiney Printing Press. Initially, the printing press operated not only as a commercial production center but also as a training ground for individuals interested in graphic design, computer applications, and printing technology. Trainees were engaged in real production activities, gaining hands-on experience and practical industry exposure.

From 2017 to date, the organization has trained and hosted students on industrial attachment from:

  • Universities
  • Senior High Schools (SHS)
  • Junior High Schools (JHS)

These students were drawn from various communities across the Western Region of Ghana, contributing to youth skills development and capacity building in the region. Due to increasing demand for structured, certified training and the need to align with national vocational standards, the training unit was formally separated from the printing business in 2025.

This transition led to the establishment of Bigbiney Institute of Technology as a dedicated vocational and technical training institution, focused on competency-based education. The institute continues to leverage its strong industrial background to produce skilled, competent, and job-ready graduates.
